The Spirit helps us grow in our faith

When we first become Christians, the Holy Spirit comes to live inside us and we are given new life – we are ‘born again’. The Spirit is then responsible for helping us to grow in our faith and become more like Jesus Christ.

One of the ways the Spirit helps us to grow in our faith is by teacher. The Spirit helps us to understand the Bible and showed us what it means. He also helps us to apply the Bible to our lives. Another way the Spirit helps us to grow in our faith is by giving us strength. The Spirit gives us the power to do what is right, even when it is hard. He also helps us to resist temptation and stand firm in our faith. The Spirit also helps us to grow in our faith by giving us joy. The joy of the Lord is our strength (Nehemiah 8:10). When we are filled with the Spirit, we will be full of joy, even in the midst of trials and difficult circumstances. The Spirit also helps us to grow in our faith by giving us the fruit of the Spirit. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). As we allow the Spirit to produce these fruit in our lives, we will become more like Christ.
So, the Spirit helps us to grow in our faith in a number of ways. He is our teacher, our strength, our joy and our guide. As we yielded to the Spirit and allow him to work in our lives, we will become more like Christ.
