We believe that praying is a way of connecting with God and to a higher power. When we pray, we are asking for help, guidance, or strength. Praying for protection is a way of asking for God’s help in keeping us safe from harm.
It is a way of aligning our own desires with God’s perfect will for us as his children to enjoy a life filled with peace,joy ,fruitfulness ,purpose and prosperity so we can represent his kingdom and values to the world who does not know him personally but can see his through us.
It also proves that God is a responsive God who cares enough to answer each and every one according to their needs and wants.
Only a living breathing God can answer prayers that is why God asks in the book of Isaiah the profound question to those who worship idols that are powerless and he says
Why do you worship a god who cannot save?
The privilege of answered prayers is exclusive to christians and that is one of the things that surprises people from other religions when they first encounter Jesus - that he responds to their petitions and answers their prayers on the contrary to what they experienced with their former gods.
So the reason we pray is because we know that he hears us and he is also able to give us abundantly more than we could ever ask or imagine.
